The town is mainly formed of country houses (most of them are from the Middle age: important country houses in the county history), which make up four villages: Cases Noves, l’Esquerda, Fontanelles and Vicenç. In the year 1805 Les Masies de Roda and Roda de Ter separated from the town of Sant Pere de Roda, but its history comes from the old civilizations because the archaeological site of l’Esquerda, situated on a meander of the river Ter, was an Iberian settlement until the Middle Ages.
