The father of Catalan terror produced more than 100 films

Born in Valencia in 1934, Pérez Giner has been one of the most prolific producers of Catalan cinema. With more than a hundred films, he worked with directors such as Sergio Leone, Ridley Scott, Paolo Taviani, Eloy de la Iglesia, Bigas Luna, Josep Maria Forn, Joaquim Jordà, Núria Villazán, Judith Colell and Francesc Bellmunt.

In the 70s he was one of the great promoters of the Catalan horror films, producing films such as Walpurgis Night, Horror rises from the tomb, Tombs of the blind dead, or Blue eyes of the broken doll. And in the 80s, he produced great hits of the "quinqui" cinema, such as Perros Callejeros or El Pico. In addition to the genre cinema, Pérez Giner always opted for the author's cinema producing people like Vicente Aranda, Ventura Pons or Bigas Luna. He gave them their first chance. The same that he had when he worked in 1966 with Sergio Leone in The Good, the Bad and the Ugly.

Pérez Giner also taught at the Escac, Blanquerna Foundation and Pompeu Fabra University, among others. He also founded the Catalan Producers' Association (PAC) and advised the Generalitat to design the Catalan audiovisual aid program. A whole figure of the Catalan cinema that won the Sant Jordi Award for Cinematography, the Ciutat de Barcelona Award and who was an honorary member of the Academy of Catalan Cinema.
