L’Ametlla de Mar has an important fishing port. The wealth of fish in this stretch of coastline means  that local fishing is one of the main economic activities of the town, and also hosts the biggest tuna fishing fleet in Catalonia, which spends a few months at sea. Sustainable fishing and conservation of Posidonia meadows and, in general, the entire coast, are essential for maintaining the fish, crustaceans and cephalopods population.
