Esmuc is located in the new urban center of Plaça de les Glòries, next to the National Theater of Catalonia and a few meters from the Encants vells and the Museu del Disseny.

We share headquarters with L'Auditori and the Museu de la Música, in a large 40,000 m2 music center designed by the architect Rafael Moneo. The building was built between 1990 and 1999 in a plot that occupies two blocks of the Eixample.

It is immediately recognizable by its sober and compact appearance, by the concrete grid that is repeated along the façade and the steel panels that give it its characteristic reddish hue. The central part of the construction is supported on columns, forming a passage that allows to cross the building without having to surround it. In this space there is also the Lantern, a monumental glass cube decorated by Pablo Palazuelo that acts as atrium and authentic heart of the building. Inside the Esmuc we find again the concrete structure present in the façade and a maple wood paneling that transmits warmth and luminosity to all the spaces. The classrooms are acoustically isolated and have the necessary equipment and instruments to guarantee the quality of teaching.
