The CCIB was inaugurated in 2004 with the Universal Forum of Cultures. Located by the sea in ​​Diagonal Mar area, the CCIB is part of new technological and business district of Barcelona, ​​known as 22@.

The center consists of two buildings of great architectural value connected by an underground walkway. The Convention Centre building, designed by Josep Lluís Mateo, was designed to give a high importance to daylight. The Forum Auditorium, designed by Herzog & Meuron, has become an icon of the modern Barcelona with its huge 25mhigh blue triangle.

The CCIB is a modern, versatile and functional space of 100.000m2 distributed in 38 rooms of different sizes, one exhibition area of ​​11.340m2 free of columns and an auditorium with 3.140 seats. Since its opening, the CCIB has hosted over 1.030 events from different industries organized by institutions, associations and companies both national and international, surpassing the 4.730.000 delegates.
